With a style heavily influenced by her admiration for Dutch floral paintings, Italian Renaissance, Japanese Rinpa painting, and realism of the late 19th century Brittany juxtaposes brushwork and refined detail by exploring composition and design elements that are abstract and minimalistic. Between her love of nature and Zen spirit Brittany explores thematic ideas like “Mono no Aware” (lit. The pathos of things) and creates work focusing on transience, self-reflection, and the internal journey. The world her paintings dwell in is silent and void-like, aiming to be broadly interpreted as to allow the viewer a chance to find their own meditation within her imagery.
Brittany currently resides in Boston with her studio at Western Ave Studios in Lowell, MA.
